Governments and global development agencies consider tourism to be a key tool by which developing countries can diversify their economies and lift populations from the grips of poverty. Its "sustainable" image lends itself specifically to the development of rural economies. The growth of ecological, cultural, and adventure tourism has assisted in propelling tourism forward as the "sexy" development option for rural communities. What About The Locals?: Impacts of Tourism Development on Mountain Communities in Central Asia, explores the development of tourism in the mountain regions of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Local, regional, and national governments work closely with global development agencies and international tourism firms to foster investment and infrastructure development, with the intended goal of increasing skilled employment, entreprenuerialism, and taxable revenue. Dr. Allen's indepth case studies reveal that, despite good intentions, tourism development can lead to unequal competition between international and locally based firms, degradation of local ecosystems, and rarely provides stable skilled employment.

The Origin Of The Mountain Bikes

!: The Origin Of The Mountain Bikes

When it comes to bicycles, mountain bikes are no doubt very popular today. Because of the thrilling ride experience they can bring, a huge number of enthusiasts from various parts of the earth had been fascinated with them for decades.

However, when we will make a background check, mountain bicycles can be traced down to seventies. And if we are going to go deeper in its history, by 19th century there were already bikes of its kind. These were already considered as mountain bicycles way back then.

The record started with a faction of Buffalo Soldiers in August 1896. These soldiers used custom-made bicycles as they traveled back and forth to Missoula, Montana and Yellowstone.

Wondering why the history of mountain bikes is always linked to the seventies? It was because during that period when the first users of the said bikes were assembled together for a sport bicycling event. This sport was later recorded as the earliest downhill time tryout.

The present Repack Road in Fairfax, California is a historical place because an event was held here in 1976. Back then, standard downhill mountain bicycles were unavailable. Thus, personalized balloon-tired bicycles that come with gears and handlebars like that of BMX-style named as klunkers were used by riders. The bikers would take the road in different timing.

As the eighties entered, some companies discovered and built this kind of bicycle. And as the years passed by, new improved bicycles are being introduced. These bikes are more efficient and heavy-duty compared to bicycles of before.

Now, we observe some biking sports events anywhere across the globe. Some of these events are categorized as downhill, cross country, free ride, etc.

In 1988, the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame and Museum was created to recognize all the people including events behind mountain bicycles. You can visit this place at Crested Butte Colorado.

Want A Better Climb? Choose the Right Mountain Climbing Boot

!: Want A Better Climb? Choose the Right Mountain Climbing Boot

So you're in the market for the right mountain climbing shoes for you. Here you will find some things to consider and a few tips to ensure you get the best shoes for you.

Mountain climbing is a pretty generic term for several different activities that involve hiking in mountain regions. You will have to narrow down the type activity you plan to do in order to select the appropriate mountain climbing boot. As an example, if you are planning to use your everyday hiking shoes for wintertime rock climbing, you will probably find they are not stable enough and do not help your balance on slippery slopes.

Unquestionably, one of the most unpleasant experiences is to climb with a pair of soggy shoes and socks. Wet shoes and socks usually make your feet cold, and cold feet will make your whole body cold. For this reason climbing shoes must always be waterproof.

When it comes to securing your climbing boots to your feet you want to pay attention to the laces. You want to be certain you will be able to tie your shoes quickly and easily. You want the laces to stay tied also. And you want your laces to be made of a durable material because you will be in remote areas with unforgiving terrain.

In the old days rock climbing shoes were thick, clunky and heavy. Today you can find lightweight mountain climbing shoes that feel like you are wearing your bedroom slippers. The less your hiking shoes weigh the easier your climb will be.

Wearing a pair of climbing shoes that do not fit properly can easily be the cause of a lot of discomfort. And can lead to serious complications and injury. Always take your time to choose a mountain climbing boot that best fits you. Sometimes this can be a long process, most people have two feet that vary in size and width from each other. Remember, the time you spend choosing the best boot for you is time keeping you on the trail later.

Always try to wear the socks you will be climbing in when you are shopping for the right sized boot. If you plan to wear thick socks or two pair of socks shop with the same socks you will wear climbing. You will probably find that you need a larger pair of mountain climbing boots to prevent discomfort later.

The absolute most important tip is to test, test, and test. Once you have found some mountain climbing shoes you are interested in you need to put them to the test. Put them on, just like you will when climbing, and then go walk around a bit. Ask yourself if you are able to walk comfortably. Try to find a hill to walk up and down and traverse across. Are your feet still comfortable? If your answer is yes, you have probably found the mountain climbing shoe for you.
